Service Areas

Define geographic coverage with drawn areas, office location and service radius, used by the chain coverage map and the public member search.

What service areas are

Draw geographic polygons to define the area where your company accepts work. Company settings combine the drawn coverage with an office location, service radius, maximum capacity, and address metadata.

SettingWhat it does
Office locationProvides the default center for the service area and radius-based routing.
Service radiusDefines the fallback or reference circle around the office location.
Maximum capacityHelps represent how much work the company can handle for chain routing and analytics.
Drawn polygonDefines the geographic coverage shown on the chain coverage map and used by the member search on the chain's public website.
Address and location metadataStores the company’s location details used by the service-area editor and routing behavior.

The map editor

The service-area editor displays your office location, reference radius, existing polygon, and tools for drawing and editing coverage. You can also use your current device location to seed a circle.

Open the service area map editor

Open Service area settings for your company.

Review the existing polygon or start fresh

Inspect the saved coverage on the map. If no polygon exists, the map shows the available office location and reference radius.

Draw one or more polygons

Define the regions where your company accepts work. Add separate polygons when your coverage includes non-contiguous areas.

Optionally use your location to seed a circle

Use the current device location to create an initial circular area, then adjust the coverage as needed.

Review and save or discard

Save the changes to apply the new coverage, or discard them to return to the last saved area.

Drawing and editing polygons

Draw one or more polygons on the map, then add, edit, or delete regions as your coverage changes. Use your current device location to seed a circle when you need to create an area around where you are working.

Save changes explicitly to update the company’s service area. Discard unsaved edits to restore the last saved coverage.

Unsaved drawings persist locally while you navigate within the app. If you reload or close the browser with unsaved changes, the browser warns you before leaving.

Deleting the polygon does not remove the company’s office location or service radius. Member search falls back to the service radius until you draw and save a new polygon.

Auto-seeding from office location

If no polygon exists but an office location is available, the editor can create a default circle centered on that location. The circle uses the configured service radius.

When no service radius is configured, the default radius is 30 miles.

If you delete your polygon, the member search on the chain's public website falls back to the service radius around your office location.

Order routing

The service area does not route or filter orders. No type of order is assigned, moved, or hidden based on the drawn area.

The drawn area is used in two places:

  • Chain coverage map: The head office sees each member's area on the Coverage page.
  • Member search on the chain's public website: The search looks at the area within 20 km of the visitor's address. Members whose drawn area reaches into that area are listed first. Other members are listed when their service radius around the office reaches into it. When no member reaches the area, no members are shown.

Chain lead distribution in Sales & CRM does not use the drawn area. It uses the office location and the service radius: members whose radius covers the lead are considered first.

Save service-area changes explicitly before they take effect, and confirm the action before deleting an area.

Chain behavior

Parent companies control shared chain-level resources and taxonomy. Member companies can browse shared staffing postings and resources, see parent-configured taxonomies, and use service-area settings for their own coverage.

Member companies do not automatically gain permission to edit parent content.
